What is the Marquette Challenge?
The Marquette Challenge is an annual fundraiser led by Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant students across the nation to benefit the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research (FPTR). The students in these programs seek and receive support from their peers, professors, program leaders, families, friends, and communities to compete in this fundraising challenge, aiming to raise the most money to make a huge impact, as well as have the next year's challenge named after their program.

The UM DPT Program
The Marquette Challenge started in 1989; since then, PT and PTA students have raised over $4.6 million for physical therapy research. It's important to note that these funds don't only go towards research projects, but that they also create the opportunity for FPTR grants, scholarships, and fellowships to exist.
The FPTR is the sole nonprofit foundation in the U.S. focused on funding physical therapy research and up and coming researchers. It is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization and functions based on donations. Their mission and vision are as follows: "To fund research and develop researchers to optimize movement and improve the health of society" and "To shape the future of health through physical therapy research" (Foundation for Physical Therapy Research).
The University of Miami's DPT Program is one of the top ranked DPT programs in the country, with a highly skilled and passionate group of faculty and staff teaching classes of eager-to-learn and dedicated SPTs.
